Best wishes to Matt Barber

Former Poachers midfielder stretchered off in cup final

Boston Town have sent best wishes to former player Matt Barber after he suffered a horrific injury in the Hinchingbrooke Cup Final last night.

The popular midfielder was taken to hospital while playing for Yaxley against Royston Town at Huntingdon Town's ground.

An ambulance was immediately called and the game was abandoned with the score at 1-1.

Poachers joint boss Ian Dunn said he was undergoing surgery today for a broken tibia and fibula.

Barber was a popular member of the Poachers squad before leaving to join Yaxley to cut down on travelling. He scored seven goals in 27 games up to Christmas this season and was top scorer for some time.

Town midfielder Mark Foster praised Barber as a "top lad and a great player".

He added: "We wish him all the best from all at Boston Town."
