Wisbech join UCL

Fenmen make the switch to United Counties League

Wisbech Town have made the surprise switch to the ChromaSport and Trophies United Counties League.

The Fenmen, managed by former Boston united and Town player Steve Appleby, are one of five new teams in the UCL Premier League next season.

They and Godmanchester Rovers have both moved from the Eastern Counties League.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Northampton Sileby Rangers are the two promoted clubs, replacing Blackstones and Irchester.

And Woodford United have been relegated back to the UCL after a stint in the Southern League Division One Central.

St Ives have been promoted to the Southern League Division One Central while Quorn and Shepshed Dynamo have both moved out of the UCL to the Midlands Alliance after only one season.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds, formed after Rushden & Diamonds went bust, look sure to bring bumper crowds with them after attracting average attendances of 544 in the UCL Division One last season.

Boston Town have never been in the same league as Wisbech, who last played in the UCL in 1949-50.
