Spalding 12, Boston Town 0

Poachers suffer embarrassment at the hands of rampant Tulips

Spalding showed just why they are reckoned to be one of the strongest sides the United Counties League has seen for many a year.

Not only have they conceded just two goals in winning all 12 league games so far this season but they're also scoring goals for fun.

And yet this humiliation could have been so different after Boston started brightly and should have been ahead after 20 minutes. Scroll down to see how the action unfolded:

12-0: And another.

11-0: Spalding still going for goal right at the death.

10-0: Double figures will really hurt for the Poachers.

9-0: Still 10 minutes to go.

SUBSTITUTION: Dunn on for West.

8-0: A night to forget for Boston Town - and yet it all started so promisingly.

Poachers down to 10 men as Liam Bull receives seond yellow card.

7-0: Hat-trick for ex-Boston United man Mark Jones. That's the guy Conference North side Gainsborough offloaded because he was too expensive.

6-0: Tidswell scores again.

5-0: Town need to dig deep now just to keep the score respectable.

DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION: George Stainfield comes on to face brother Nathan and Michael Wood is also introduced. Clancy and Lovelace are the men replaced.

4-0: Boston would probably settle for the final whistle blowing right now. Still 35 minutes to go though.

Second half is underway and already Drury is in action to prevent Tidswell from making it 4-0. This could be a long 45 minutes for the Poachers.

Half-time and it's 3-0 to the Tulips. But that's a tough scoreline to take for the depleted Poachers who are missing Borbely, Pinner, Ford, Jackson, Field and Wood - they dominated the first 20 minutes and hit the spot.

Remember, this is a team who've won all 11 league games so far this season and conceded just two goals in the process.

42 MINS: A flurry of bookings as half-time approaches - Bull and Ogden for Town and Jackson for United.

3-0: And now Nathan Stainfield makes it a ridicolously harsh scoreline on the Poachers.

2-0: A second for Spalding after 32 mins as Tidswell scores.

1-0: Mark Jones puts the hosts in front against the run of play after 23 mins.

14 MINS: Now Drury earns his corn in the Boston goal with a great save from Gibson.

9 MINS: Strong start for the Poachers. Mark Lovelace crashes a shot against the post and Jordan Nuttell also forces a fine save from keeper Duggan.

TEAM NEWS: Paul Goodhand makes a rare appearance for Boston Town as they bid to put a dent in Spalding's 100% league record tonight.

Their starting line-up is: Drury, Lambley, Ogden, Maltby, West, Wilson, Clancy, Bull, Nuttell, Lovelace, Goodhand. On the bench are Borbely, G Stainfield, Wood, Dunn, Hocking

The Poachers are massive underdogs with Ollie Pinner still suspended and joined on the sidelines tonight by Josh Ford and Jason Field, who are also banned.

But Ian Dunn and Matt Hocking hope to throw the cat among the pigeons with West and Lovelace drafted in to the side and Shane Clancy making his first start of the season.
