Lee adds to striking options

Lee Wattam joins Poachers on work experience

Highly-rated Grimsby Town youth player Lee Wattam is on his way to Tattershall Road.

The Leeds-born striker will play for Boston Town on a work experience deal.

Grimsby's head of youth Stuart Watkiss is keen to give the 18-year-old a chance to play some senior first team football.

Poachers boss Nathan Collins said Wattam was really quick and a good finisher.

The youngster scored for Grimsby's youth side last weekend in a 2-1 defeat against Notts County. Earlier in the season he bagged a hat-trick in a 3-2 win against Chasetown.

Watkiss told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Lee going out to Boston is good news for him and will bring him on no end.

"With these kind of deals, it's important to me that they play and get games.

"Because it's classed as work experience, there's not really a time limit. We can leave him with Boston for as long or as short a space of time as we see fit.

"It's something that we'll monitor closely. If they're doing well and we feel it's beneficial, then we'll leave him for a longer period."
