Dan`s in the hot seat

Assistant boss steps up to replace Nathan Collins

Dan Barrett has taken over as Boston Town manager.

Chairman Mick Vines has given him the job of taking over from Nathan Collins, who has stepped down because he felt a back injury wouldn't allow to carry out his duties.

Barrett has been rapidly promoted after being appointed as assistant boss only last week. He wll continue to be available as a player and Carl Foreman will be his number two..

Vines praised Collins for the job he'd done in his 10 months in charge and said everyone at the club sent him their very best wishes.

He said: "Dan is only young but has great experience of playing football at a higher level than our league and he knows all the players, including the ones from the Grimsby area.

"I'll certainly be giving him and Carl time to prove themselves. I won't be putting them under any pressure."

Dan and Carl have a tough start to their reign - their first four games are all away from home, beginning tonight at Wisbech.
