Hall of Fame No. 36

Curly Himsworth is the latest player admitted to the Hall of Fame

Rob Himsworth (Midfielder 1976 - 83)

It feels strange even writing his name as "Rob Himsworth" when he was known universally as Curly.

Opposition programmes sometimes even used to list him on the teamsheet as C Himsworth.

A gifted midfielder who gave sterling service to the Poachers for seven seasons, he was a hugely popular figure at the club.

For those fans who were lucky enough to watch the all-conquering Boston FC side of the late 1970s, Curly was an iconic character.

Slight of build, he nevertheless stamped his authority on games with his vision and ability to pick a pass.

Who knows how many goals the likes of Martin Johnson, Mark Cox and Nick Mallinder would have managed if it hadn't been for Curly subtly pulling the strings in midfield in that era?

With his distinctive locks and nearly always wearing the 11 shirt, Curly was a reassuring sight for supporters.

Debut: 21 August 1976 - Boston FC 0, Eastwood Town 1
