Hall of Fame No. 46

A key member of the 1993-94 FA Vase side joins our Hall of Fame

Shaun Walker (Midfielder 1993 - 96)

There were countless heroes of our FA Vase side of 1993-94.

That memorable season, which saw Boston FC foiled by Taunton just one step from a Wembley final, featured significant performances throughout the team.

Carl Smaller's record-breaking goalscoring exploits captured most of the headlines but another player whose contribution shouldn't be overlooked is Shaun Walker.

He played 55 games in that gruelling campaign which stretched Bob Don-Duncan's squad to the very limit. Remember, we were playing in the East Anglian Cup and the Evans Halshaw Floodlit Trophy as well as all the usual ones - six different cup competitions in all!

For all of Smaller's sensational efforts, FC didn't actually have that much in the way of backup scoring options beyond traditional centre-forward Fred McDonnell.

so Walker's goal threat was vital to that side's success - he scored 14 that season, including four in the Vase.

And he followed it up with an even more impressive 19 the following year, making more than 120 appearances for the club in all before leaving for pastures new in the summer of 1996.

Debut: 14 August 1993 - Boston FC 6, Desborough 0
