Feeling the FOUR-ce

Poachers enjoy their opening day goal spree

Boston Town's 4-2 win against Oadby was their best opening day goal haul this century.

You have to go back to 1997-98 for the last time they scored four or more goals on the first day of the season.

On that occasion, it was a 7-2 drubbing of Potton United, when Carl Smaller, Ian Shooter, Dave Scotney and Ross Don-Duncan were among the scorers.

Saturday's victory against Oadby was also notable for the fact that defender Simon Ashton registered his first goal for the club.

He went the whole of the 2014-15 campaign without getting on the scoresheet - despite making 39 appearances, more than anyone else at the club.

Mark Angel will be hoping for another three points on Tuesday (11 August) when his side entertain Harrowby at the DWB Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.
