Eddie hails `great team effort`

Praise for depleted Boston Town's heroic cup win

Boston Town secretary Eddie Graves has hailed last night's victory over Deeping as one of the best of the season.

"I would like to congratulate the boys on a well-deserved victory against our local rivals despite missing several players," he said.

Town had outfield player Richard Ford in goal in the Lincs Senior Trophy quarter-final tie in place of the missing James Doughty and several other players were also unavailable.

"With the likes of Jordan Nuttell cup-tied and new signing Aaron warrener not eliglble, the squad was down to only 11 fit players" said Eddie.

"Rudi Jencsi the substitute was carrying a knock, there were two lads who could not get back from university in time and three or four who could not get time off work.

"It was a great team effort."

Deeping had Jack Cotton sent off after 32 minutes but Aaron Eyett put the resulting penalty over the bar.

And things got worse for the Poachers when David Burton-Jones put the hosts ahead two minutes later.

But a second Poachers penalty after 56 minutes was slotted home by Jack Wightwick - his 17th goal of the season.

With four minutes left, Ryan Parnell clinched the tie for Boston to set up a visit to Blackstones in the semi-finals.

Victory over their county rivals was paticularly sweet after Deeping had thumped Town 6-1 in the FA Cup at the same ground in August.

Town: Ford, Fleming, Lambley, Moore-Papworth, Wood, S Ashton, Eyett, Borbely, Beck, Parnell, Wightwick
