Boston Town kick off the New Year with three points

Boston Town clinched a valuable victory in their first game of 2016.

The only goal came after 19 minutes when visiting defender Callam Traynor turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Ryan Parnell.

Town welcomed back Loz Lambley and Michael Wood to the side after they missed the defeat to Deeping and new signing Nathan Thompson made his debut as a substitute.

Remarkably it was Boston's FIRST clean sheet in the league this season - their only previous shut-out was in their 5-0 county cup win over Holbeach.

The last time the Poachers recorded a clean sheet in a league game was in a 1-0 win against Cogenhoe in March.

But they will have to do without the suspended Simon Ashton for the trip to Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday (9 January).

Town: Doughty, Lambley, Parker, Ford, Wood, S Ashton, Parnell, Fleming (Warrener), Beck, Nuttell, Borbely (Thompson)
