Tweeting sub goes viral

Why Sleaford's Twitter updates are in the limelight

A footballer has hit the headlines after he had to stop tweeting live match updates because he came on as a sub during the game he was covering.

Harrison Allen was giving goalflashes from Sleaford's 3-3 draw against Boston Town at the DWB Stadium on Easter Monday.

The updates sudenly dried up - with Allen later explaining: "Sorry for the break in tweets. I came on as a sub for Millard."

That tweet has already had nearly 4,00 retweets at the last count after the story was picked up by national media.

Eighteen-year-old Allen told the BBC: "Our usual tweeter, Jamie Shaw, was away on work. I asked if I could have a go. I was just doing my job really.

"There were only three of us on the bench. I was planning on passing the phone to someone else but we all pretty much came on at the same time."
