Daryl Clare joins Poachers set-up

Experienced star will be part of playing squad and management team

Nathan Collins has announced that Daryl Clare is joining his exciting new era at the DWB Stadium.

The vastly-experienced striker, who twice won the Conference Golden Boot, will be part of the playing squad as well as becoming joint manager.

Collins said: "He is someone I have got huge respect for as a person and a footballer.

"He is going to get fit pre-season and will be a big player for the club this season. His experience and knowledge will also be a huge help to myself and the rest of the management team."

It's a real coup for the Poachers to bring 37-year-old Clare on board.

The Jersey-born striker represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 and B international level.

He counts Grimsby, Northampton, Cheltenham, Boston United, Crawley, Burton Albion, Rushden & Diamonds and Mansfield among the clubs he played for in a glittering career that began in 1996.

Clare was part of Grimsby's Second Division Play-Off triumph in1998, coming on as a substitute in their semi-final victory over Kevin Keegan's star-studded Fulham side boasting the likes of Peter Beardsley and Chris Coleman.

He has also had management experience with Louth Town and Boston Town fans have seen glimpses of what he can do in previous brief spells at the DWB Stadium.
