Callum Bastock `will bounce back from knee injuries`

Grimsby Town goalkeeper James McKeown has backed Callum Bastock to bounce back from injury.

The 19-year-old son of Paul Bastock made a good impression during his spell between the sticks with Boston Town in 2012-13.

But Bastock's ambitions of making it as a professional were dealt a blow when was released by Grimsby last month after suffering two serious knee injuries.

McKeown told the Grimsby Telegraph: "When he was fit and training, he did really, really well. To get what's happened to him is devastating.

"He's a great character and a very determined lad. He's come back from it once – and came back a better goalkeeper – and I'm sure he can do it again.

"As a lad, he'll be fine – he's very switched on. He's a lovely, lovely lad and it'll be a shame not to have him around next season."
