Poachers slip to defeat in final home game of the season

Boston Town 1, Deeping 2

Boston Town surrendered an early lead to lose out to county rivals Deeping Rangers in their last home game of the campaign.

Lee Orrey fired a patched-up home side in front after just five minutes with a well-taken goal from the edge of the area.

But the visitors equalised after 27 minutes from the penalty spot - Town keeper James Doughty being shown yellow after bringing down a Deeping striker in the box.

Orrey continued to pose problems throughout the second half but Boston were also grateful to some wayward finishing by their Lincolnshire rivals.

Rangers took the points thanks to a 76th minute strike by former Poacher Jamie Graham.

The game was still in the balance until the final whistle though, particularly when Deeping's Joe Braithwaite was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

Boston captain Michael Wood followed in the dying seconds.
