Valuable point for improved Poachers

Boston Town 0 Harborough 0

Well it may not have been the three points that Boston wanted before kick off but the Poachers earned a creditable draw against 9th placed Harborough.

A heavy DWB Stadium pitch didn't lend itself to a crisp passing game and play became bogged down with nothing much in the way of chances materialising.

Boston, with debutants Nicky Frost patrolling the left wing and Jonny Lockie partnering Curtis Revell upfront, nearly took an early lead when the visitors all but put through their own net from a home corner.

The Poachers looked stronger at the back with the returning Jason Field a tower of strength in central defence and Bailey Forth being a physical presence. Jan Pinner switched to left back for the day in the absence of Kyle Howitt and youngster Jordan Tate had an impressive debut on the right.

Though never troubled Boston's defence succumbed just before the half when a through ball deflected into a visiting striker's path, and keeperJames Lambley was called into making a fine save.

Attacking the club house end for the second period Boston grew in confidence and started to dominate the game. Jordan Nuttell, on the comeback trail, replaced Loz Lambley with Revell switching to the right wing. This  almost brought immediate dividends with the latter firing wide as ball bobbled just as he struck. 7

Harborough were reduced to ten men when Harry May's crude late challenge on Tate saw tempers flare up. Danny Maddison, himself the victim of a dangerous tackle for the third game running, made way for Conor Minor. Boston pressed on and should have scored when Nuttell was put through. In the end the visitors hung on with the Poachers laying siege to their goal.

Boston remain in 21st but it was an important point with everyone else in the drop zone succumbing to heavy defeats. Boston now travel to Wisbech on Tuesday evening before a real six-pointer at Kirby Muxloe on Saturday.

Poachers: James Lambley, Jordan Tate, Jan Pinner, Jason Field, Bailey Forth, Danny Maddison (Conor Minor), Loz Lambley Jordan Nuttell), Bence Farago, Jonny Lockie, Curtis Revell, Nicky Frost. Subs (not used): Rares Demeter, Lori Borbely.
