Poachers succumb to all-conquering leaders

Boston Town came off second best to this season's likely champions - but only after giving as good as they got.

The eventual 3-0 scoreline certainly flattered big-spending Peterborough Sports, whose squad boasts a wealth of highly-paid ex-National League stars.

Gary Frost's side gave a good account of themselves in the spring sunshine and had they been sharper in front of goal, they might have made life more uncomfortable for the leaders.

The visitors were 1-0 up at the break but it was only when they doubled their lead midway through the second half from a quick breakaway - with Boston caught out committing men forward for an attacking long throw - that they could breathe easily.

As the game became stretched in the last quarter, there were chances at both ends. James Lambley pulled off a couple of fine saves but the marauding Curtis Revell, Jordan Nuttell and Arron Eyett also caused plenty of headaches for the Sports back line.

And the impressive young defender Jordan Tate nearly scored what would have been a deserved goal right at the death when he popped up in the penalty area at the end of a flowing move down the right.

Meanwhile, Harrowby were slaughtered 12-0 at Eynesbury to keep Boston 13 points clear of the relegation places.
